Professor Siddique has been accused of espousing anti-Semitic sentiments and support for Islamist terror following the publication of multiple posts on his Facebook to those effects. Siddique, for example, denounced “dirty Jewish Zionist White Supremacist thugs” in a 2015 post that brought increased attention to him.[1] Siddique also has a history of Holocaust denial, terming it a “hoax” intended to bolster support for Israel. Defending his comments, Siddique argued that “I’m not an expert on the Holocaust. If I deny or support it, it doesn’t mean anything,” and that his comments fell within the framework of academic freedom.  At a pro-Palestinian rally in Washington in 2010 Siddique called the state of Israel “illegitimate,” proclaiming, “I say to Muslims, ‘Dear brothers and sisters, unite and rise up against this hydra-headed monster which calls itself Zionism,” and that, “each one of us is their target and we must stand united to defeat, to destroy, to dismantle Israel.”[2]

Siddique has also posted anti-American content maligning its culture and practices. He, for example, reacted to the Bill Cosby rape scandal by deeming it “not very surprising,” as “most non-Muslims behave like he did.” In considering why it took so long for Cosby’s accusers to come forward, Siddique theorized that, “1. He paid them off. 2. Many women are sluts. 3. American women are slaves of rich men. 4. Random sex is quite acceptable in America. 5. They don’t have families like Muslims do who would take revenge for rape.” Siddique has also blamed the “homo lobby” for “creating a new persecuted minority” of those who oppose gay marriage.[3]

Siddique was also condemned by U.S. Senator Anthony Williams as promoting “treacherous hate speech,” following his reactions to the deadly terror attack on the ‘Pulse’ nightclub in Florida in 2016. According to Williams, Siddique posted on social media lamenting the U.S. for not giving ISIS sufficient credit for the attack. In his post, Siddique wrote, “CNN is coming up up with conspiracy theories which are meant to reduce or remove the idea of this being an ISIS victory…”[4]

Further, Siddique has defended terror groups like ISIS, arguing that many of the very crimes they admit to committing, like rape, murder and slavery, are mere fabrications. According to Siddiqui, “there are people who have various motivations for saying how bad they are, so that all the bad people go there.” Commenting on documented atrocities committed by ISIS, Siddiqui has, for example, argued that “I need evidence that anything was done to Yazidis,” and that “if they’re doping terrible things to women, what women in their right mind would go to join them?” Lincoln University has thus far distanced itself from Siddique’s comments, deeming them an “insult to all decent people,” but acknowledge that he is protected so long as he doesn’t express his opinions as the views of the University.[5]
