Ihsan Bagby is involved with several Muslim Brotherhood sister-organizations, and has espoused anti-American and anti-Western ideology during his career. For example, in his 1991 book ‘The Muslims of North America,’ Bagby claimed that, “ultimately we [Muslims] can never be full citizens of this country [the U.S.] because there is no way we can be fully committed to the institutions and ideologies of this country.”[1]

In 2014, Prof. Bagby was the keynote speaker at the inaugural banquet for the U.S. Muslim Brotherhood Political Party, the United States Council of Muslim Organizations.[2] Following his 2004 report entitled ‘A Portrait of Detroit Mosques: Muslim Views on Policy, Politics and Religion,’ which interpreted survey results from a Detroit-Area Islamic organization, Bagby concluded that, “the vast majority if Muslim Americans hold ‘moderate’ views on issues of policy, politics and religion,” and that “the mosque community is not a place of radicalism.” In fact, the survey found that among the Muslim respondents, two-thirds believe that “America is immoral” and “four-fifths advocated the application of Shari’ah.” Islamic scholar Daniel Pipes, responding to the study, argued that “Professor Bagby’s interpretation amounts to a case of survey research being distorted by its sponsors to hide the actual results. This is intellectual fraud and political deception.”[3]
