Eric Foner has established a reputation as a Communist apologist, espousing outspoken anti-American ideals. Following 9/11, Foner stated, “I’m not sure which is more frightening: the horror that engulfed New York City or the apocalyptic rhetoric emanating daily from the White House.” He went on to rationalize foreign hostility towards the U.S., explaining that studying American history in a historical context “might help explain why there is widespread fear outside our borders that the war on terrorism is motivated in part by the desire to impose a Pax Americana in a grossly unequal world.”[1]

He also alleges that Hurricane Katrina was a “man-made disaster inflicted on black Americans by President Bush and other racist white guys.”[2] He ultimately condemns the U.S. “as an imperialist nation” and “the very focal point of world imperialism.”[3]
