Dana Cloud supports the Marxist/Leninist movement, and considers herself part of the Fourth Communist International.[1] She is also a signatory to the US Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel.[2] Immediately following the 9/11 attacks, Cloud blamed U.S. foreign policies for provoking al Qaeda, writing that it was, “worth pointing out that the United States military has, in recent years, been the most effective and constant killer of civilians around the world.”

She went on to assert a functional equivalence with the Arab-Israeli conflict, saying many Americans fail to think, “about why Palestinians and others in the Middle East have cause to be extremely angry with the United States for its support of Israel in its decades-long campaign of terror against Palestinian civilians.”[3] In 2002, Cloud expressed that she dislikes the U.S. pledge of allegiance, “because it seems very strange to pledge loyalty to a scrap of cloth representing a corrupt nation,” and instead wrote her own, pledging allegiance “to the people of Iraq, ‘Palestine,’ and Afghanistan.”[4]
